Hyperco Celebrates 56 Consecutive Wins of the Indianapolis 500 by Cars Using Hyperco Springs

Pontotoc, MS – September 3, 2020 – August was an exciting and eventful month for Hyperco and its customers with some of the most iconic races of the year taking place.

This year’s running of the 104th Indianapolis 500 marked the 56th consecutive win of the historic race on Hyperco springs with all 33 entries including product built by our incredible teams at MW Components and Pontotoc Spring. With speeds in excess of 230 mph, this year’s Indy 500 maintained one of the fastest race paces in history.

Hyperco & MW Industries’ success within INDYCAR is an excellent example of our coiling capabilities, attention to detail, quality and design competence which separates us from all others. The suspension category is one of the only areas within INDYCAR that is “open,” or non-homologated, meaning any spring manufacturer in the world can solicit the business. Many have come and gone with the exception of one, Hyperco. Hyperco continues to prove its reputation and legacy as the winningest spring brand in professional motorsports.

In NASCAR news, testing has resumed for the first time since March for the development of the new Gen 7 car, which will include Hyperco springs. Due to the onset of Covid-19, the debut was pushed back to January 2021 to allow for continued development of the new car, which will include new design concepts and technologies. Throughout August, NASCAR tested at Daytona International Speedway’s famed road course along with comprehensive testing at the grueling Dover International Speedway. The remainder of the summer and fall will be filled with testing and data analytics to ensure the quality of the final car, which is scheduled for delivery to teams by June of 2021. This will be the first time in NASCAR history that there will be a fully homologated suspension package among many other chassis categories such as brakes. Every team will have a toolbox of 70 Hyperco springs per car to tune to their needs for a variety of tracks.

Short track track racing is alive and well across the country with strong car counts. From pavement and dirt late models to modifieds and midgets, Hyperco customers around the country are finding victory lane by the hundreds. Bubba Pollard continues his dominance of Pensacola while Jimmy Owens extends his points lead in the Lucas Oil Late Model Series. Cade Dillard has rallied up to an impressive third in the World of Outlaws points in just his second full season of one of the most competitive series in all motorsports. Chris Windom, Tyler Courtney and impressive rookie Buddy Kofoid lead the national points in the USAC Midget series.

In sports car racing, IMSA visited both Road America and VIR in August along with Trans Am and SRO to hit the track in full force with doubleheader weekends and exciting sprint races. Hyperco equipped teams are dominating the points standing across the top three classes in DPi, GTLM and GTD with teams scrapping for hard-fought wins. Corvette racing has continued its impressive pace with the exciting new mid-engine car while the Aim Vasser Sullivan Lexus GT3 team leads the overall and Sprint Cup GTD Manufacturer Championship with a combined three wins, five podiums and six top five finishes in just five races.

In Trans Am, Mike Skeen continues his impressive run for a championship with four wins in the season after his back-to-back wins at Brainerd International Speedway and Road America. Tommy Drissi is a mere 10 points back from the series leader and young gun Ernie Francis Jr. with his recent win and the highest overall finishing average.
